West Towson Elementary School is a new, $22M, 69,300 sf, three-story building designed to accommodate 451 students and approximately 25-30 faculty and staff. Featuring pre-K through fifth grade classrooms, the facility includes a special education room, science room, art room, media center, computer lab, combined gymnasium/cafeteria area and an accessible roof garden located over three kindergarten classrooms.  Due to existing grades, this LEED Silver Certified building is configured as an off-hill structure with partial basement.  The team’s efforts earned this project recognition by the USGBC Maryland as the Classic Public School of the Future in 2011.
