Melissa was invited to serve as a guest panelist for her alma mater, Johns Hopkins University, in a geotechnical engineering class taught by Shana Carroll, President of DW Kozera. The panel aimed to give second-year civil engineering students insight into the wide range of career paths available after earning their degrees.
Melissa shared her experience as a structural engineer in consulting, outlining her career path and day-to-day responsibilities. She was joined by Coretta Bennett of JHFRE, who spoke about the Owner’s perspective, and Ryan Pike of MK Consulting Engineers, who discussed the role of a civil engineering consultant.
Students were highly engaged and asked thoughtful questions about the different career paths presented. The discussion provided valuable perspectives, making it an informative and rewarding experience for both the panelists and the students.
