Stephanie Slocum and Tyler Graybill were thrilled to attend the 2015 Structures Congress in Portland, Oregon. The structures congress provided an energizing opportunity to discuss new ideas, new practices, and network with structural engineering peers.
Tyler was awarded a coveted Structural Engineering Institute’s (SEI) young professional scholarship to attend. He enjoyed meeting other young professionals and learning about the latest structural engineering technologies. Of particular interest to him were the building case study seminars, where attendees learned about some of the most recent high-profile buildings to be constructed and the design challenges that were encountered and overcome as part of their successful completion.
Stephanie presented “SEI Survey: Current Business Practices and Future Expectations”, during Friday’s session PP3000 on behalf of SEI’s national Business Practices Committee. Stephanie spoke about current industry trends and future outlooks. Click the links for the presentation and slides with notes. Her presentation was largely based on her previous committee work and co-authorship of a Structure Magazine article by the same name.
